Understanding a problem is the first step towards solving it. That is why effective communication about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is essential to building a safer future for everyone.
In today’s world, there is a lack of information and many misconceptions about AMR, making it difficult to distinguish fact from fiction. To help clarify these concepts, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), together with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), is organising an interactive webinar where the public can ask experts questions directly.
AMR is not a distant problem, but a present threat that requires immediate and sustained action. Drug-resistant infections continue to rise, while public awareness remains insufficient.
To protect our present and secure our future, it is essential to prioritise coordinated action in human, animal, plant, and environmental health. This seminar will provide practical and reliable information to raise awareness of AMR in all sectors.
The event will be held as part of World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW), an annual campaign that seeks to promote responsible use of antimicrobials and encourage best practices that help reduce the emergence and spread of resistant pathogens. WAAW is held every year from 18 to 24 November.
This event is open to the general public. The main target audience includes specialists and the media, students, teachers and researchers, and representatives from all sectors of health (animal, public and environmental), among others.
