On October 20, the regional workshop Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy: Terrestrial Animal Health Code update was held virtually. The meeting was attended by more than 150 participants from the veterinary services of the region.
The main objective of the meeting was to present the updates in the Terrestrial Code Chapter on Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, adopted in May 2023 General Session.
Besides the presentation on Chapter updated contents, other presentations covered topics related to its impact on trade and the update on the requisites for the official BSE-risk status recognition and reconfirmation by WOAH. In addition, a presentation was made on the Guidelines for targeted BSE Surveillance. Finally, the country experience from Canada was presented.
