World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) is an annual campaign to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
This week also aims to promote best practices among the public and the various relevant actors who play a key role in reducing the emergence and spread of drug-resistant pathogens. WAAW is held every year from 18 to 24 November.
As we approach this date, the Regional Representation for the Americas of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) is organising a webinar to share best practices and resources available to join the WAAW 2025 celebrations.
AMR is not a distant challenge; it is a present danger that demands immediate, sustained action. Drug-resistant infections are increasing, yet awareness, financing, investment and action remain insufficient.
To protect our present and secure our future, we must prioritise strategic action in the human, animal and environmental health sectors. Much remains to be done to raise awareness of AMR among the various relevant sectors, and this webinar will provide timely information and a range of ideas and examples to inspire the audience.
This event is open to the general public. The main target audience is veterinary service staff, communication specialists and the media, students, teachers and researchers, partners and representatives from other health sectors (public and environmental health), among others.
