Since the first case of African swine fever (ASF) was reported in the Americas in late July 2021, leading international animal health organizations have been working to support the region in putting sanitary measures in place to stop the spread of the disease.
Under the Global Framework for the progressive control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs), a Regional Emergency Management Committee was formed to coordinate and monitor emergency activities. This committee has conducted a series of webinars coordinated by IICA on the most relevant issues for ASF preparedness, prevention, detection, and response.
