The first edition of the Regional Training Seminar for the OIE National Focal Points in Communication was held in Panama City, Panama, from March 15 to 17, 2016. The Seminar was organized thanks to the financial and logistical support of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) of Panama in the logistics aspects of the Seminar.
The technical contents were coordinated by Dr. Catherine Bertrand – Ferrandis, of the OIE Headquarters, with the participation of Mr. Sebastián Gonzalo Oliel and Dr. Vilma Gutierrez, of the Pan American Health Organization (OPAS – WHO), and Dr. Valerie Vouligny, from the Life Animal Health Agency, Dr. Luis O. Barcos and Dr. Helia Lemos da Silva, from the Regional Representation for the Americas.
The activity provided the opportunity for the National Focal Points to meet with experts from the OIE Headquarters and other Organizations, as well as from the OIE Regional and Sub-Regional Representation for the Americas. It also allowed the participants to interact with other Focal Points facing similar realities in their countries, in addition to carrying out a practical training supervised by the experts of the OIE.
