On March 5, 2020, the OIE Regional Representative, Dr. Luis Barcos, traveled to Brasilia, Brazil to meet with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the agronomist Tereza Cristina, and the Head of the Brazilian Veterinary Service (MAPA) and Delegate to the OIE, Dr. Geraldo de Moraes. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss topics of interest to the Region, such as the prevention of African Swine Fever, and Antimicrobial Resistance.
During his stay in the country, Dr. Barcos followed up on the negotiations established at the OIE General Session in 2019, with representatives from the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense (SDA/MAPA) and the Brazilian Association of Animal Recycling (ABRA), in order to coordinate the topics to be discussed in the area during the International Agribusiness Fair, scheduled for 13 and 14 May 2020, at the Expo Dom Pedro, in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.
