The City Friend of Animals Award is an initiative of World Animal Protection (WAP) to identify best practices in the humane handling of dogs and cats in Latin American cities.
Registrations are open to any Latin American local government that to submit its strategies, policies and practices in order to guarantee the management ethical, effective and sustainable use of dogs and cats.
The aim is to disseminate and reward innovative proposals that can be adopted and replicated by other cities. A digital book will be created with the 10 best strategies. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive a plaque and the local government representative will win a trip to participate in the 3rd ICAM Conference on Dog Population Management, which will take place in September 2019, in Mombasa, Kenya. The registrations will be open until 30 June 2019.
