Dr. Maria Mesplet joined the team of the OIE Regional Representation for the Americas last 13 July 2020, as a Project Officer in a Tripartite Regional Project named ”Working together to fight antimicrobial resistance”, funded by the European Union.
As a project officer, María will contribute to the OIE strategic vision for the implementation of the EU funded tripartite regional project on AMR in seven Member Countries as follows Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. She will support the overall coordination of the project by ensuring the timely and successful delivery of the activities in line with the established objectives and participating, as required, in the operational implementation of the activities.
Maria is a professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, University of Buenos Aires (UBA-Argentina). She holds a PhD in Veterinary Sciences, a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Buenos Aires and a CES in Animal Epidemiology from ENVA-CIRAD (France).
Before joining the OIE, Maria worked as an advisor in the National Directorate of International Relations and Coordinator of the implementation and monitoring of the International Health Regulations at entry points in the Ministry of Health of Argentina. Previously, she worked as an external consultant at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI).
