The Regional Workshop on the New World Animal Health Information System (OIE-WAHIS) for the OIE National Focal Points for Animal Disease Notification for the Americas will be held in Panama City from 17 to 19 February 2020.
The objective of this workshop is to improve the understanding of notification requirements and the nature of information to better notify animal diseases and disease events to the OIE using the WAHIS online Internet application.
OIE-WAHIS, will have new technological features aimed at improving the collection and dissemination of animal disease data.
The regional workshop will provide participants with information on the role and responsibilities of the Veterinary Services or other competent authorities in the notification of animal diseases to the OIE and on the specific tasks of OIE national focal points in this field. Finally, differences in the notification process using the new OIE WAHIS platform will be highlighted. The focal points will introduce real information on the new training platform during the last half-day, to test the platform and facilitate its future use.
