On Tuesday 17 August, Dr Faizel S Wilnis, was designated as the new OIE Delegate for the Republic of Surinam.
Faizel S Wilnis is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics with vast experience in the field of animal production and food safety. As of March 2021, he is Acting Chief Veterinary Officer of Suriname for the department of Animal Production and Health at Ministry of Agriculture, Husbandry and Fisheries. Until his appointment as delegate, he was the national wildlife focal point for Suriname in the OIE.
Dr. Luis Barcos, Regional Representative of the OIE for the Americas, commented on this new designation: “We welcome Dr Wilnis as OIE Delegate for Suriname and wish him every success in this role”.
