Landscape analysis of the status of implementation of National Action Plans on Antimicrobial Resistance

Launching of the consultants' activities

On August 25, 2020, a virtual meeting on the project Working Together to Fight Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), was conducted by the Tripartite of the Americas´ Region. There, consultants in charge of carrying out the National Landscape Analysis of the 7 countries where the project is implemented were introduced to each other. The countries where the project is being implemented areArgentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

A team of public health, animal health, and environment experts will coordinate and maintain meetings with national authorities and the main organizations involved in AMR activities in each of the countries to carry out the landscape analysis of the implementation status of the National Action Plans (NAP) on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). It is expected from the implementing agencies to support the countries in their challenges and prioritize activities and interventions to fight AMR. Those activities will be incorporated in the work plans of the countries.

The objectives of the landscape analysis are:

  1. establish the baseline of AMR governance structures; and
  2. analyse the status of development and implementation of National Action Plans  (NAPs) against AMR in the 7 countries that are part of the project.

The project Working Together to Fight Antimicrobial Resistance is implemented by PAHO, FAO, OIE and with European Union support.
