WOAH Americas Projects

Introduction

GF-TADs

It is a joint initiative between the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which combines the strength of both organizations for the fight against transboundary animal diseases.

Regional Committees

Since the OIE standards are adopted by the Veterinary Services (SV) and this impacts the animal production chain that includes all stakeholders, the WOAH Regional Representation for the Americas developed the Regional Committees as a place of discussion between the private sector and the VS. In this framework, the private sector can propose the modification of the rules to the SV and this can (or can not) make the official proposal to the OIE to modify them.
In this context, the Regional Committees encourage interaction between the private sector and the VS.

CAMEVET: American Committee of Veterinary Drugs

It was created in 1992, and operates within the Regional Office for the Americas.
It is constituted by the National Focal Points of Veterinary Products of the WOAH member countries, responsible for the registration of veterinary drugs ,and by the Association that gather these Industries as adherent members of the Region of the Americas.
The objective of this Committee is to facilitate the harmonization of Standards relating to the registration and control of veterinary medicinal products among the Member Countries, in order to guarantee the conditions of quality, safety and efficacy of the products, for the benefit of regulatory approval among the countries.
