In the framework of the tripartite project Working together to fight antimicrobial resistance, with the support of the National Service of Quality and Animal Health (SENACSA) of Paraguay, we organised the workshop How to develop public-private partnerships to combat AMR?
This workshop was held from 30 November to 2 December in Asunción, Paraguay and was attended by 60 representatives from the public and private sector from the 7 countries participating in the project.
The objectives of the event were:
During the three-day workshop, public and private sector representatives from each country worked together to develop a public-private partnership project. In 2023, WOAH will follow up all the projects and select some of them to provide technical support with an external consultant.
Dr Maria Mesplet, AMR project officer, said: “Public-private partnerships can align public and private interests to promote and coordinate actions to mitigate the impact of AMR. That is why we consider it of utmost importance to develop these face-to-face meetings where both sectors can meet and work together“.
